Snoopy, so far.
I’m building a static site generator in Go. I wanted a project I’d actually use, and making something for my own site felt like a good place to learn.
What it does
Snoopy reads Markdown, puts it through a Go template, and writes HTML. Pages can live in folders, links between them work, and images and stylesheets come along with the build. This site is the example that ships with it.
The first build notes cover how it got from one hardcoded page to this version. There’s also a bit more about why I’m making it.
Start with this page
The words you’re reading are in content/index.md. Change a paragraph, then run
this from your site directory:
snoopy build
For another page, add a Markdown file to content/ and give it a heading. It’ll
show up in the navigation on the next build. The title and description in
snoopy.json are yours to change too.
What comes next
I want to use Snoopy for a while and find out which parts need work. I’ve got ideas for features, but I’d like the next ones to grow out of actually writing and publishing with it.
